I’m obsessed with the song playing in the last few minutes of this week’s House episode. The song is “Promise” by Ben Howard, who Wikipedia reliably informs me is “an English singer-songwriter born in London”.
Promise (Ben Howard)
And meet me there, under the flowers
We’ll wade through the hours of cold
Winter she’ll howl at the walls
Tearing down doors of time
Shelter as we go
And promise me this
You’ll wait for me only
Scared of the lonely arms
Surface far below these birds
And maybe, just maybe, I’ll come home
Who am I, darling to you?
Who am I, to tell you stories of mine
Who am I?
Who am I, darling for you?
Who am I, to be your burden in time, lonely
Who am I, to you?
WHo am I, darling for you?
Who am I, to be your burden
Who am I darling to you?
Who am I?
I come alone here
I come alone here

Glad to find someone enjoy this song in this episode. no doubt the music and lyrics fit the scenario perfectly. I shed my tears when I saw Moira held Robert’s hand when she left. But I smiled when Robert was back to the team again. Probably this is the best Valentine’s Day gift for us from the director and producer of House M.D. Touching and many thx!
Yup, it fits the scene perfectly 🙂 I thought they would have to part without ever touching again because of the senior nun (scary!, heh), but Moira must have wanted to touch another human being for the last time.
Thank you for finding this – I also loved this particular ending of House, beautiful lyrics and beatiful ending to a great episode. Thank you.
You’re welcome 🙂 It’s almost surprising how sweet the ending is, for a House episode.
After watching this episode I wanted to know the performer too.. beautiful song
Every Kingdom by Ben Howard is a great album…’Wolves’ is superb, enter this into youtube, great short with a BMX stunt rider (theres also another version with surfers)
Danny Macaskill – Industrial Revolutions
the youtube versions are slightly different to the album version..hope you enjoy!
I really like the live version he did for the BBC 🙂 He looks different than I imagined based on his voice.
The guitar sound was perfect. I thought it was a harp, but he must have just played it in the middle of the string to get that mellow sound. Wonderful.
There’s a live version with guitar, cello and double bass, but I can’t really tell which sound is from which, heh. It’s such a beautiful song.
