Thom Yorke Duets

I’ve Seen it All (Bjork and Thom Yorke)

I’ve seen it all, I have seen the trees,
I’ve seen the willow leaves dancing in the breeze
I’ve seen a man killed by his best friend,
And lives that were over before they were spent.
I’ve seen what I was and I know what I’ll be
I’ve seen it all – there is no more to see

You haven’t seen elephants, kings or Peru
I’m happy to say I had better to do
What about China? Have you seen the Great Wall?
All walls are great, if the roof doesn’t fall

And the man you will marry
The home you will share?
To be honest, I really don’t care…

You’ve never been to Niagara Falls
I have seen water, its water, that’s all…
The Eiffel Tower, the Empire State?
My pulse was as high on my very first date
Your grandson’s hand as he plays with your hair
To be honest, I really don’t care…

I’ve seen it all, I’ve seen the dark
I’ve seen the brightness in one little spark.
I’ve seen what I chose and I’ve seen what I need,
And that is enough, to want more would be greed.
I’ve seen what I was and I know what I’ll be
I’ve seen it all – there is no more to see

You’ve seen it all and all you have seen
You can always review on your own little screen
The light and the dark, the big and the small
Just keep in mind – you need no more at all
You’ve seen what you were and you know what you’ll be
You’ve seen it all – there is no more to see

This Mess We’re In (PJ Harvey and Thom Yorke)

Can you hear them?
The helicopters?
I’m in New York
No need for words now
We sit in silence
You look me
In the eye directly
You met me
I think it’s Wednesday
The evening
The mess we’re in and
(The city sunset over me)

Night and day
I dream of
Making love
To you now baby
Love-making
On-screen
Impossible dream
And I have seen
The sunrise
Over the river
The freeway
Reminding
Of this mess we’re in and
(The city sunset over me)

What were you wanting? (What was it you wanted?)
I just want to say (I just want to say)
(Don’t ever change) Don’t ever change now baby
(And thank you) And thank you
(I don’t think we will meet again) I don’t think we will meet again
(And you must leave now) And you must leave now
(Before the sun rises over the skycrapers) Before the sunrise
(And the city landscape comes into being) Above skyscrapers
(The sweat on my skin) The sin and
This mess we’re in and
(The city sunset over me)

“Just ’cause you feel it, doesn’t mean it’s there”

There There (Radiohead)

In pitch dark I go walking in your landscape
Broken branches trip me as I speak
Just ’cause you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there
Just ’cause you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there
There’s always a siren singing you to shipwreck (don’t reach out, don’t reach out [x2])
Stay away from these rocks we’d be a walking disaster (don’t reach out, don’t reach out [x2])
Just ’cause you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there (there’s someone on your shoulder [x2])
Just ’cause you feel it doesn’t mean it’s there (there’s someone on your shoulder [x2])
There there…
Why so green
And lonely [x3]
Heaven sent you
To me [x3]
We are accidents waiting
Waiting to happen
We are accidents waiting
Waiting to happen

Glastonbury 2003 Live Version. Just look at the different in postures between Ed and Jonny beating the drums (ramrod straight versus hunched over). Ed does seem like he came from a different posse compared to the rest of the Radiohead guys, heh.

Acoustic version, Thom and Jonny. I wanna run a scissors through Jonny’s hair!

Subterranean Homesick Alien

Subterranean Homesick Alien (Radiohead)

The breath of the morning
I keep forgetting
The smell of the warm summer air

I live in a town
Where you can’t smell a thing
You watch your feet
For cracks in the pavement

Up above
Aliens hover
Making home movies
For the folks back home

Of all these weird creatures
Who lock up their spirits
Drill holes in themselves
And live for their secrets

They’re all uptight
Uptight.. [x7]

I wish that they’d swoop down in a country lane
Late at night when I’m driving
Take me on board their beautiful ship
Show me the world as I’d love to see it

I’d tell all my friends
But they’d never believe
They’d think that I’d finally lost it completely

I’d show them the stars
And the meaning of life
They’d shut me away
But I’d be all right
All right..

I’m just uptight
Uptight.. [x7]

“Because I know today has been the most perfect day I’ve ever seen”

I was stuck in traffic this morning, and for some reason started thinking of this song. Haven’t listen to it for ages, but I was suddenly hearing that last verse in my head over and over again.

Videotape (Radiohead)

When I’m at the pearly gates
This’ll be on my videotape
My videotape
My videotape

When Mephistopheles is just beneath
And he’s reaching up to grab me

This is one for the good days
And I have it all here
In red blue green
In red blue green

You are my center when I spin away
Out of control on videotape
On videotape

This is my way of saying goodbye
Because I can’t do it face to face
So I’m talking to you after it’s too late from my videotape

No matter what happens now
I won’t be afraid
Because I know today has been the most perfect day I’ve ever seen

This is the version I like best – Thom Yorke alone on piano. The lyrics is slightly different than the album version.

Radiohead Cover

Emo-rock Radiohead. And no, this is not redundant. You can accuse Radiohead of being miserable, dark, cynical, but Radiohead was never “emo”.

Bluegrass Radiohead. These guys look almost too innocent and nice for those lyrics.

Hip hop Radiohead. Except not really, since Mos Def sang it straight like the original song.

What Radiohead would sound like if Thom Yorke is a woman.

Acoustics Kid A. And yes, emo Radiohead again.

Fantasy Radiohead Setlist

Not my favorite Radiohead songs or anything, just indulging in a little bit of nostalgia.

Fog

There’s a little child
Running round this house
And he never leaves
He will never leave
And the fog comes up from the sewers
And glows in the dark

Baby alligators in the sewers grow up fast
Grow up fast
Anything you want it can be done
How did you go bad?
Did you go bad?
Did you go bad?
Somethings will never wash away
Did you go bad?
Did you go bad?

Punchdrunk Lovesick Singalong

I wrapped you inside my coat
When they came to firebomb the house
I didn’t feel pain, ’cause no-one can touch me
Now that I’m held in your spell

A beautiful girl
A beautiful girl
Can turn your world into dust

Sell me a car that goes
Sell me a house that stands
I never cared before, I never cared before
I never cared before, before, before, before

A beautiful girl
A beautiful girl
Can turn your world into dust

A beautiful girl
A beautiful girl
Can turn your world into dust

I stood in front of her face
When the first bullet was shot

Palo Alto
In a city of the future
It is difficult to concentrate
Meet the boss, meet the wife
Everybody’s happy
Everyone is made for life

In a city of the future
It is difficult to find a space
I’m too busy to see you
You’re too busy to wait

But I’m okay, how are you?
Thanks for asking, thanks for asking
But I’m okay, how are you?
I hope you’re okay too

Everyone one of those days
When the sky’s California blue
With a beautiful bombshell
I throw myself into my work
I’m too lazy, I’ve been kidding myself for so long

I’m okay, how are you?
Thanks for asking, thanks for asking
But I’m okay, how are you?
I hope you’re okay too

A Reminder

If I get old
I will not give in
But if I do
Remind me of this

Remind me that
Once I was free
Once I was cool
Once I was me

And if I sat down and crossed my arms
Hold me until this song

Knock me out
Smash out my brains
If I take the chair and start to talk shit

If I get old remind me of this
That night we kissed and I really meant it
Whatever happens if we’re still speaking
Pick up the phone
Play me this song

Follow Me Around

I see you in the dark corner of the street
Coming after me, yeah
Headlights on full-beam
Coming down the fast lane
Coming after me, yeah

I would like to change back now
To the shadow of
The shadow of my former self

It follows me around (x2)

Did you lie to us Tony?
We thought you were different
Now you know we’re not so sure

Drooling looney tunes
Moving in a swarm
Moving in a swarm

It follows me around (x4)

Nowadays I get panicked
I cease to exist
I have ceased to exist

I feel absolutely nothing
The words are out of ink
The words you know are out of ink

You follow me around (x2)
Follow me around (x2)

Big Boots

Drift all you like
From ocean to ocean
Search the whole world
But drunken confessions
And hijacked affairs
Just make you more alone

If you come home
I’ll bake you a cake
Made of all their eyes
I wish you could see me
Dressed for the kill
What a nasty surprise
You’re my man of war

The worms will come for you

So unplug the phone
Stop all the tapes
It all comes flooding back
From poison clouds to poisoned dwarf
What a nasty surprise
You’re my man-o-war
The worms will come for you
The worms will come for you
Big boots
For you
Big boots

Polyethylene (Parts 1 & 2)

Tears of joy now scare ourselves of all that you want to be
Just got paid and now you’re going, how inside you please
If I get scared I’ll just call you and I’ll miss your glow as I unsettle
Oh, and I’ll always feel, I will always be

Right, one, two, three, four

So sell your suit and tie and come and live with me
Leukemia schizophrenia polyethylene
There is no significant risk to your health
She used to be beautiful once as well

Plastic bag, middle class, polyethylene
Decaffeinate, unleaded, keep all surfaces clean
If you don’t believe this, sell your soul
If you don’t get into it, no one will

Song from The Good Wife S03E17 (Long Way Home) – Dustbowl III by Other Lives

It’s the song playing in the background when Alicia went to her old house at the end of the episode. Other Lives is a band from Stillwater, Oklahoma, and the band is currently opening for Radiohead for its US tour (well, good luck trying to get that ticket!) Apparently, Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood saw Other Lives playing at Jericho Tavern in Oxford, the same place Radiohead had its start.

You might want to check out their Facebook face too. They gave away two tickets to Radiohead’s show in Miami last month (the first time they opened for Radiohead). Who knows, might happen again for future shows. Plus, tidbits like going bowling with some members of Radiohead. (The mention of bowling and Radiohead is making me think of that last scene in There Will be Blood, with Thom Yorke as Daniel Plainview, heh).

Random Radiohead Lyrics

She lives with a broken man, a cracked polystrene man,
Who just crumbles and burns
He used to do surgeries, for girls in the eighties
But gravity always wins

This is just a nightmare
soon I’m going to wake up
Someone’s gonna bring me around

Today is the first day of the rest of your days
So lighten up squirt

Why so green and lonely
Heaven sent you to me
We are accidents waiting
Waiting to happen

Up above, aliens hover
Making home movies for the folks back home
Of all these weird creatures who lock up their spirits
Drill holes in themselves
And live for their secrets

Stop sending letters
Letters always get burned
It’s not like the movies
They fed us on little white lies

When I am king, you will be first against the wall
With your opinion which is of no consequence at all
