RIP, Ser Rodrik

My favorite Ser Rodrik’s moment, before this week’s episode (Game of Thrones S02E06 – The Old Gods and The New) was back in Season 1 when he and Catelyn arrived at Robb’s camp while Robb and the other lords were planning their strategy against the Lannisters. When Robb saw his mother, he immediately went “Mother!” and moved towards her, probably for a hug. But a look and slightly raised eyebrows from Ser Rodrik stopped Robb in his track, and mother and son didn’t embrace until Catelyn has asked the other men to leave the tent. So much being conveyed in that one look – no, you’re their leader now, you can’t be seen as a young boy desperate for his mother, not in front of the men you’re trying to lead into battle.
